Goodbye, Jade Goody.

March 23, 2009

Its curtains for Reality TV of Jade Goody. Jade Goody bid goodbye to this world in her sleep on Sunday. On a mothers day.  Cool. I presume it is a death much anticipated and waited for not only by Jade Goody, but thousands of people around the world. It is a serene death, most people will want, on their bed, contended, independent.

Goody gained fame in 2002 when she joined the British version of the reality television show “Big Brother,” in which contestants live together for weeks and are constantly filmed. She became a highly divisive star and something of a national touchstone who sparked debate about race, class and celebrity. Her antics helped the ratings of the show soar.

Once she was diagnosed with cancer she changed her life, but she died doing what she was best at. Reality TV.

We pray for Jady Goody and hope her dear ones get the strength to deal with this loss. May God be with them. And with her.

Rape as a Cure

March 15, 2009

Gangs of South African men are raping lesbians in the belief it will “cure” the women’s sexual orientation. These are mostly carried out in South African townships where the homosexuality is largely taboo.

Though gay marriages are legal in South Africa, the society has treated them as “un-African”.

There are daily reports of beatings, and verbal abuse of the lesbians.
